Education has an immense impact on the human society

Education has an immense impact on the human society and it is an important tool that contributes several aspects of a person’s life. Being educated is something that always looked at as a positive achievement that feels good and looks good on a resume. As quoted by John Adams. There are two types of education – One should teach us how to make a living and other how to live. The two types of education are formal and informal education is classroom. Based and provided by trained teachers where as informal education is outside the classroom, in after school programs, libraries, at home. The major role of education is to create an educated society. So we can say that in today’s world the role education has become more vital. It is an absolute necessity for economic and social development. To be successful a high level of education is imperative. Generally a person is called as an educated person if he or she can read and write. But the real meaning of education is to be awakened. The person is an educated person if he can differentiate between his good or bad.
In a county like India education has a major role to play. People know nothing about population explosion and family planning and welfare schemes which is a major hindrance in the development of the country. So there is a need to create awareness of importance of education. Education enlightens people about the harms of envies like drinking, gambling etc. Moreover people in India don’t know the value of their vote and thus become a prey of misrule, corruption etc.
If we want to make our society well modernize then in this case the most important factors are to give a child international level studies, so he/she can face the world. Lots of international schools in India are providing such kind of education. There are certain reforms that are needed to be taken to improve educational systems in the country. The primary Education and female Education specifically in normal areas need a quick boosting. Education for the poor people should be job oriented. Development in new fields of education should be encouraged.
These will help in creating a better awareness in the society about the importance of education and its role in the development of the country.
The present system of education in India has proved an utter failure. It does not meet the vital needs of our national life. The national life is changing daily but the educational system is functioning carelessly as before. It does not respond to new requirements and problems. The Indian students, after many years of hard mental labor, leave the portals of the college or university only to fight against the frightful enemy unemployment. The educated youth finds himself in capable of facing the realities of life. He stumbles and falls. In a word, the Indian educational system is faulty to a great extent and the foreign a medium of instruction is the most tragic and absurd of all its defects. In free and advanced foreign countries, instruction is imported through the mother tongue. In India also the medium of instruction at all stages of education should be the mothers tongue. This is the language we use at our mother’s knee, the language of our firs and spontaneous outbursts of joy and grief. Hence to make any other language to be the vehicle of education is not only to add much to the students labor, it is to lame his brain as well. It is a sheer pity that the mother tongue has not yet been made compulsory as the medium in all states and the most deplorable thing is that in this 20th century, there is still exist persons in this unlucky country who think that the young boys and girls should continue to learn through the English medium.via

Attraction of Medical Education and Research

The current study is based on a survey of participants in trial conducted in the late 1990s at MGH and at the Loma Linda University Medical School in California. That study compared the results of two different radiation doses for treatment of early-state prostate cancer. All participants received an equal dose of conventional X-ray therapy and a booster dose of proton therapy that brought the total dose to either the then-standard level of 70 Gy or to 79 Gy, which is now the usual dosage for similar tumors. Proton therapy reduces the amount of radiation delivered to normal tissues in front of and behind a tumor, and the X-ray therapy was also given in a way to minimize the irradiation of normal tissues.
The earlier study showed that, five years after treatment, the higher radiation dose had reduced tumor recurrence by about half, a benefit that persisted up to nine years after treatment. Participants' physicians reported similarly low rates of treatment-related toxicity in both groups, but the patients themselves had not been asked about their post-treatment experiences.
The current investigation was designed to study participants' reports of their experiences, considered to be the most accurate measure of side effects. The researchers sent all surviving participants a questionnaire that included standardized assessments of the urinary, bowel and sexual symptoms usually affected by prostate cancer treatment. Separate from the specific symptom assessment, participants were asked to rank their function in those areas as normal, intermediate or poor. They also were surveyed about their attitudes regarding their current health, their cancer and the treatment decisions they had made.
Survey questionnaires were returned by 280 of the original 398 study participants, evenly divided between the standard- and high-dose groups. Both groups reported similarly low levels of treatment side effects and quality of life problems. Patients in the standard-dose group – who had greater incidence of tumor recurrence, often requiring additional therapies – expressed less confidence that their tumors were under control and more regret about their treatment choice, which in this case was to enroll in the randomized trial. Participants' overall ranking of the urinary, bowel and sexual functions was often better that would be expected based on the symptoms they reported.
Jack Szostak is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical School, Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, and the Alex Rich Distinguished Investigator in the Department of Molecular Biology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He received the 2009 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discovery of the enzyme telomerase, which protects chromosomes from degrading, a process common to aging and various disease states. He received the 2006 Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research for the same work.
His current research interests are in the laboratory synthesis of self-replicating systems and the origin of life. He and his colleagues have developed in vitro selection as a tool for the isolation of rare functional RNA, DNA, and protein molecules from large pools of random sequences. His laboratory has used in vitro selection and directed evolution to isolate and characterize numerous nucleic acid sequences with specific ligand binding and catalytic properties. He is co-director of Harvard’s Origins of Life Initiative.
Szostak has also been awarded, along with Gerald Joyce of The Scripps Research Institute, the 1994 National Academy of Sciences Award in Molecular Biology and the 1997 Sigrist Prize from the University of Bern, Switzerland. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2000, Szostak was awarded the Medal of the Genetics Society of America.
Brian Paegel is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry with a joint appointment to the Translational Research Institute at Scripps Florida, part of The Scripps Research Institute, which is headquartered in La Jolla, California. He is well known for his work in the field of directed evolution, applying Darwinian principles to populations of molecules rather than organisms and using microfluidic technology as a platform for observing evolution in real time in molecules research in medical school.
Paegel graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in chemistry from Duke University (NC) in 1998 and received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in December 2003. Just prior to joining Scripps Florida in 2008, he was a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow in Gerald Joyce’s laboratory at Scripps Research’s La Jolla campus. He received a National Institutes of Health Pathway to Independence Award in 2007.source

Creating, Maintaining and presenting a Homeschool Portfolio

Many school districts now require homeschoolers to present portfolios showing their student's progress in an organized fashion. This is actually a very convenient method of recording whenever it is done properly. Here are some ideas on how to create, maintain, and present your homeschool portfolio for a successful assessment, evaluation and review.

First of all, it is important to have a firm grasp on precisely what a homeschool portfolio is. Basically, a homeschool portfolio is a collection of materials that are used in order to showcase what your child has learned over the course of the "school year." This is important because numerous states require an annual assessment of homeschooled students either via testing or the presentation of a portfolio. While it may seem that keeping a portfolio is only good in so far as you need to comply with the law. This is not the case however. Portfolios can also help parents and their children to record their progress and achievements. This becomes even more important once a child has reached high school and needs a diploma.

Now that we understand the importance of a portfolio, it is also important to understand that there is no right or wrong way in which to create a portfolio. It is up to the parent and/or child what materials the portfolio will contain. However, it is a good idea to choose a variety of material in order to reflect what the child has learned, experienced and accomplished throughout the year. Some items that should be included in your portfolio are: Suggested items to include are:
(1.) A journal which contains notes about activities and the progress that has been made.
(2.) A list of resources (ie books, computer software, games, toys and outside classes).
(3.) Samples of the child's work (ie samples of creative writing and drawings, text book or workbook pages, and if possible you may include audio or video tapes of your child singing, playing a musical instrument, reading aloud, or taking part in a a dramatic performance - pictures will also sometimes work well in place of audio or video tapes).
(4.) Photos of field trips, artwork, projects and family life.
(5.) Brochures and booklets from field trips and other activities.
(6.) A list of books that the child has read including both the title and the author.
(7.) A list of your goals for the year.

While this may seem quite overwhelming, you'd honestly be surprised at how easily you can accomplish this when you start preparing your portfolio at the beginning of the year. Simply use a three ring binder and add paper for your journaling. Start off by listing a few of your goals for the year and what resources you'll be using to achieve those goals (these can be modified throughout the year as needed). Then begin collecting samples of work, organizing them by subject, and punching holes in them to place them in your binder. Always have at least a throw away camera at hand so that you can take pictures of anything that you'd like that your child does (ie reading, playing, dancing). You'll also want to take pictures at field trips as well as pictures of your child's projects and creations. These pictures can either be placed in a photo album or if you're feeling really craftsy you could organize them into a scrapbook. You'll also want to make sure to hold onto any brochures or other paper items that you collect while on an educational outing. These can be easily placed in clear see-through sheet protectors. This is also a good time to begin accumulating a list of books that are being read.

Once you have put together the beginnings of your portfolio, don't stop there. Regular maintenance (I suggest weekly as it will help you to write your lesson plans for the following week) should include regular journal entries and an ongoing collection of work samples, photos and whatever else you wish to include. Some school districts will require a quarterly assessment throughout your homeschool year. This is a time for parents and children to reflect upon their progress and accomplishments from the previous months. Yet, even if your school district doesn't require a quarterly review, you won't want to wait until the end of the year to scramble and race to put together a portfolio that your school district will approve of. Neither you nor your child deserve having to go through the unneeded stress of having to sort through all of the material that has been collected throughout the year.

When it is time for review you may choose to remove some of the materials from your portfolio. You will find that some of these things simply do not properly reflect what you've accomplished throughout the year. If/when you decide to weed through your portfolio, you need to remember that the purpose of the review is to provide a general overview of the homeschool year, demonstrate that the child is engaged in homeschooling and that progress is being made.

The portfolio review can be exciting since it provides both parents and children with a time to talk about what they've been doing at home. When discussing this with your child, you may find it helpful to write down a summary of the items that you wish to highlight during your year before the review. For instance, if your child learned to read or master a skill you may wish to point this out to the reviewer. Of course, you should never view your portfolio review as a time for you to be judged or ridiculed. It is a time to listen, learn and support from your reviewer. Your child does not need to be present during this time. However, if your child wants a chance to "brag" about their accomplishments and progress to other homeschoolers, then this review is a perfect opportunity for them to do so.source

Number of students with the purpose of can be skilled and skilled through a confined area is restricted barely to the role of with the purpose of accurate area. A 50 relations role training provision can barely train 50 relations on a epoch.

While in online learning method a single training line up is connected to a multitude amount of undergraduate interrelated to individual a different through Internet concurrently. Massive learning is attained with prohibited gathering the learners in a single place.
